Personal Evolution and Managing Risk

With John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St Clair

This seminar is a three-day exploration and discovery opportunity for you to develop more choices for your life and skills in exercising those choices. When you engage fully in fascinating and generative activities with a level of risk that suits you, business, relationships, sport and leisure flow in a coherent and satisfying manner. To achieve this, you will become clearer about what you find rewarding in different time frames and contexts. Discover what that quality of life gives you, what else you need to learn or change to make the most of life and what constitutes risk for you. When you have choice in your personal states and you can identify and develop your outcomes with reference to their contexts and consequences, you have the resources to experience long-term satisfaction and reward.

  • Achieve congruency with respect to these decisions. Develop and implement a plan of action here and now.

Personal Evolution provides an excellent metaphor for exploring development and change for us as individuals. We shall be working with:

  • how we have adapted our behaviour to contexts
  • the dangers of over-adaptation in terms of behavioural flexibility
  • shaping and shifting context to develop new balance in our lives
  • finding reference points to plot where we are in our life
  • using reference points to create direction for the future
  • discovering our outcomes and intentions for those outcomes and identifying the costs and benefits of our choices
  • identifying our own perceptions of risk
  • finding acceptable levels of risk for our own activities
  • increasing, reducing and mitigating the perceived risk in our lives

Many of the most pervasive and least identified influences on our lives came from our personal histories. They may be so familiar to us that we have not considered them consciously for years. In this seminar, we shall explore the patterns behind our lives, and the beliefs and expectations that influence our everyday activity. Then, with this information we can craft our lives to build them into the futures we want to live.

When we know what has been directing us, we can take a deliberate hand in our future choices. In Personal Evolution we shall learn to find the patterns behind our present choices, re-write and enhance them, build new ones, and set our future direction by intent.

Personal Evolution and Risk uses the New Code of NLP. This was developed initially by John Grinder and Judith DeLozier in the 1980s and expanded from the 1990s to the present by John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St. Clair. The New Code is a description of the patterns and principles that frame the formats used in the Classic Code of NLP. It is redesigned to incorporate awareness of consequences and intentions and the influence of change on the systems around the individual. Instead of taking a formal sequence of events and following it, in the New Code, the unconscious mind is offered high quality information and framing and is invited to participate fully in every process. By engaging in activity where the desired learning task is embedded and not obviously apparent, the individual is exposed to a thorough experience in all senses, while consciously engaged on the mechanics of the task. The result is a deep and familiar seeming facility in the thinking and behaviour so learned.

Applying the New Code to this exploration allows us to discover, safely and respectfully, how we imagined our lives would be, how we planned and orchestrated them to date, and how we would like our lives to become in the future. We shall learn to use the wisdom of our unconscious minds to assist us in finding where and how we want to be, and learn to use effective thinking and behaviour patterns to take us there.

The New Code of NLP

The New Code of NLP is a fundamental reorganisation and recoding of NLP. It focuses on the interface between conscious attention, the cognitive unconscious and the manipulation of state towards excellence.

In the New Code (as opposed to the original Classic Code), NLP co-originator John Grinder has outlined and described the distinction between NLP as a model making endeavour and NLP as an application. This distinction ensures practitioners fully understand how to apply NLP patterns to their personal lives while also helping others apply it to their own lives.

This New Code has come about as a result of Grinder realising many brilliant practitioners were adept at helping others apply NLP patterns to their lives to achieve deep sustainable change, but for various reasons failed to adequately apply it for optimal benefit to their own lives. Hence the focus of the New Code on self-application of NLP patterning and appreciation of the difference between form and content.

In this three-day personal evolution and manging risk seminar, we shall be drawing from the New Code of NLP to detect and utilise patterns within our own systems and between our systems and the world. Using the New Code, we will explore psycho-physiological states as they are directly related to our well-being or lack of it. We shall learn to recognise, record and change states to achieve continued and enhanced health and well-being. We shall also learn where and how to focus our attention for optimal results and how that relates to state, perceptual position, context and influence

Grinder and DeLozier initially, and Grinder and Bostic more recently, developed the New Code of NLP to offer far more simplified processes to create a system for learning NLP that fosters the development of systemic wisdom in the participant and self application of the patterns in both trainers and students

Dr. John Grinder, Co-creator of NLP

John Grinder is the co-originator of NLP, which is generally regarded as the leading edge methodology in the study of human thinking and behaviour patterns. Undoubtedly he is one of the most interesting thinkers of our time.

Grinder has written 14 books including texts on transformational grammar, family therapy, business communication and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. Recently he co-authored the seminal work on the New Code of NLP, "Whispering in the Wind" with Carmen Bostic St Clair.

He has devoted years of his life to his quest to uncover and present human patterns of excellence, modeled from genii in different fields. Grinder created NLP with Richard Bandler, by modeling human excellence. With his partner, Grinder continues to explore new territories, extend and update his work, introducing new models of excellence and revising and re-coding existing models from his and Bandler's early work.

Inspiritive is the only company in Australia where you can learn directly from John Grinder. His and Carmen Bostic St. Clair's latest material will refine your original NLP experience significantly and will ensure you stay ahead of your field.
