The New Code of NLP Standards

New Code of NLP – Joint Signature Certificates and Seals

John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St.Clair to sign certificates with Chris and Jules Collingwood

As an authority in setting high standards of accuracy and application for learning NLP, Inspiritive has been offering training in the New Code of NLP since the 1990s. Chris and Jules Collingwood have recoded many of the classic code “formats” to bring them in line with New Code principles and design all their training programs using New Code principles. Our depth of knowledge and skill has been gained over many years of NLP practice and long association with John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St.Clair.

We are endorsed by John Grinder, the co-originator of NLP and appreciate greatly the trust he extends to us, as do our students. However, some people who want to learn the New Code of NLP have not made the connection between this endorsement and the reliability and quality of NLP that it implies.

Now we have arranged with John Grinder and his partner, Carmen Bostic St.Clair, for them to co-sign our NLP trainer and New Code of NLP practitioner certificates with us. From now on, our successful trainer and New Code practitioner candidates (New Code practitioner candidates include Grad Cert NLP students who opt in) will receive certificates signed by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St.Clair, Chris and Jules Collingwood.

As part of these arrangements, Inspiritive certified New Code of NLP trainers who choose to offer a course in practitioner of the New Code of NLP that we have identified as conforming to:

  • New Code principles of design and delivery and
  • The necessary and sufficient subject matter and
  • The necessary and sufficient skill development to create a practitioner in the New Code of NLP

May use:

  • The “approved course” seal in their advertising in connection with their approved programs and
  • The “approved trainer” seal to show their authority to train the New Code of NLP.
  • They may also advertise that the certificates for their approved programs will be signed by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St.Clair, Chris and Jules Collingwood.

Inspiritive is one of only two organisations in the world with the authority of John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St. Clair to design, train and assess programs in the New Code of NLP and to extend signature privileges to certified New Code trainers for approved courses in Practitioner of the New Code of NLP.

The Inspiritive certificates signed by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St.Clair, Chris and Jules Collingwood are:

  • For trainer certification in the New Code of NLP– Criteria: NLP Trainers’ Training and the Graduate Certificate in NLP. Trainers with this level of certification may apply to Inspiritive to have their New Code practitioner courses approved under the “Approved Course” seal.
  • New Code Trainers with approved courses may have these candidates certified in Practitioner of the New Code of NLP with certificates signed by John Grinder, Carmen Bostic St. Clair, Chris and Jules Collingwood
  • For trainer certification in NLP – Criteria: NLP Trainers’ Training after master practitioner certification or equivalent
  • For practitioner certification in the New Code of NLP– The New Code Practitioner Conversion Course (five days) for classic trained NLP practitioners and master practitioners
  • For students of the Graduate Certificate in NLP – Optional practitioner certification in the New Code of NLP is available on completion of the first three units (14 days)

Promoting the New Code as the form of NLP that corrects certain flaws in the classic code described by Bostic and Grinder in Whispering in the Wind.

People who want to learn the new code need to know that courses and trainers they choose are of the highest quality and teach programs that meet the principles and intention of the recoding of NLP.

The seal on a trainer’s certificate is evidence that the trainer demonstrates the following principles and has the required depth of knowledge to offer training in the patterns of the New Code of NLP.

Principles for New Code Trainers

Trainers are required to create contexts where learning specific patterns is inevitable as a built in by product of participating in the program.

Trainers are required to demonstrate a deep appreciation of the distinction between form (patterns) and content and to ensure that only form is presented as NLP patterning.  If content models are mentioned to make teaching points, they should be framed clearly as not part of the body of NLP.

Trainers create discovery processes where students acquire and demonstrate skills competently before they can deconstruct the patterns they are using: that is they can do it before they can talk about it. “A pattern presented belongs to the presenter, a pattern discovered belongs to the discoverer” – (Bostic St Clair, Grinder; 2001 p.343)

Trainers must be congruent with what they are teaching and demonstrating. For practical purposes, this means that trainers are required to embody the skills, knowledge and presuppositions that enable them to create learning contexts where form, unconscious uptake and discovery are inevitable. Students need their trainers tomodel the patterns being offered congruently.
